A few months ago I had the opportunity to visit Stratford for a delightful culinary adventure and fell in love with the place. I only experienced a small sampling of the culinary treasures in Stratford/Perth County and I was thrilled. Throughout my visit I was reminded about the Savour Stratford Culinary Festival that would be taking place in September and I made a mental note. Well lo and behold September is here and the festival is right around the corner!
I’ve been pouring over the Savour Stratford website to see what activities I’d like to participate in. Here are my picks…
Saturday September 25th
Farmer’s and Artisans Market – I’m a sucker for a great farmer’s market, what can I say?
Blending Local Herbal Teas with Karen Hartwick – On my trip to Stratford I had a great tea tasting with Karen so I can only imagine how great this session will be.
VQA Wine and Chocolate Tasting – VQA wines and chocolate? A total no-brainer.
BBQ, Blues & Brews – The barbecue features a traditional Perth County Pork Roast plus microbrews and blues music. Need I say more?
Sunday September 26th
Foraging with Peter Blush – I’m a fan of foraging. There is something about digging up produce that is sold for A LOT of money at Whole Foods, Pusateri’s etc. This workshop will teach you how to identify certain wild edibles.
Savour Stratford Tasting – This is the event that I keep on hearing about. It’s a chance to sample some of Stratford’s best in food and drink on the final day of the festival
Keep in mind if the weekend doesn’t work for you Stratford will be hosting a Culinary Week beginning on the 18th!
