At the beginning of the year I posted about my food goals for the year. I mostly forgot about revisiting my goals so with the year coming to a close (pains me to write that) I figured I’d see how I’ve fared so far…

Eat more fruits and vegetables – Some success here! I’ve been drinking fresh juices most mornings which allows me to start my day off with produce that I wouldn’t normally consume. I still have to up my intake though.

Bake more bread – I haven’t done so well with this one. I had a failed attempt at brioche-making but haven’t really made any bread this year. The year isn’t over yet!

Master pizza making– I would say I’ve done exceptionally well here! If you run a search you can read about some of my attempts at the perfect pizza crust in my regular oven

Shop at farmer’s markets more often – Another success! I discovered a farmers market near my work and made it a point to visit it weekly over the summer. Also because of my course at George Brown earlier this year I was able to visit the St. Lawrence farmers market weekly after my class. I’ve also hit up Brickworks a few times this year. Not bad.

Eat Pho – I’ve had Pho multiple times and love. In fact, I could use some Pho right now

Smoke meat in my apartment – I need to get on this one. I seem to remember an article in the NY Times about this. I should dig that up.

Eat out more often– I’ve been a lot better with trying new restaurants. Shout out to my new-ish friends that enjoy trying new restaurants.

More cleanses – I’ve really been wanting to do a cleanse recently but sometimes it’s hard to get the timing right. It seems that there’s always some great food-related event around the corner that I don’t want to miss. Maybe I’ll plan on ushering in the new year with a cleanse…

Anyone have any food goals that they’ve hit or missed this year? It’s time to start thinking about my goals for 2011!

  1. I admit to be a chronic calorie counter, to the point of obsession at times, so my recent goal has been to cut down on calorie counting, add more quality protein to every meal and ease up on empty calories and high-sugar foods. I must admit, I feel better than I have in a long time!! And I’ve been drinking herbal tea which keeps me nice and cleansed. I wouldn’t worry too much about the cleanse! They’re quite controversial and only a few are beneficial! Keep up the good work:)

Thanks for sharing! Your goals sound really positive. I’m a religious tea drinker so I full support that. You should try drinking loose leaf tea (instead of tea bags), it tastes so much better.
