This doesn’t come up on the blog too often but I’m a HUGE tea drinker. When I was in high school and the first year and a half of university I was a coffee and Coke drinker. Then at some point during the first semester of sophomore year I decided to give up coffee and Coke because I was going to study abroad in Paris and I needed to reduce my expenditures. I pretty much went cold turkey and I can count the number of times I’ve had coffee or Coke since (and it’s been about 7 or 8 years!).
My tea drinking over the years has progressed. I used to buy super cheap green tea from Pearl River in New York. It cost something like $0.85 for a box of about 20 tea bags. I then moved on to Tazo teas and had a brief fling with Mighty Leaf teas. For awhile I’d buy loose leaf teas from the charming tea shop McNulty’s in the West Village. Regardless of the brand or form I would start each day with a cup of tea.
Today I primarily drink loose leaf tea. When I moved back to Toronto I kind of abandoned my loose leaf practices and was using tea bags most of the time. Until my trip to Paris a year ago that is. While in Paris I checked out Palais des Thes and Mariage Freres, two popular tea shops in Paris. I ended up picking up some tea from Palais and my love for loose leaf tea was reignited.
Now that I’m back in Toronto I have teas in my cupboard from a variety of tea shops. In the morning I usually make a cup and then pack a takeaway cup as well. Problem is once I get to work I can’t make loose leaf tea because I don’t have my tools. Sure I could buy these but I have a feeling I’d forget to pre-make teabags. This is where teabags come in.
I’m always on the lookout for interesting and decent quality teas in teabags. Recently Tetley Tea launched a new line of herbal teas around the idea of Colour Therapy. Tetley Tea Colour Therapy is based on the idea that colours have an influence on our lives and can have an effect on our moods and well-being. With Tetley Colour Therapy you can match your tea with your mood.
Tetley has come up with some great parings such as Dream which is a combination camomile and lemon to help you sleep or Warmth which blends cinnamon, orange blossom, licorice and other spices to warm you up. The folks at Tetley were kind enough to send me over a sample to test the new line out. It’s like they read my mind because they sent me Soothe which is a blend of ginger, lemongrass and mint. Whenever I buy loose leaf teas I always make sure to have this combination in my pantry.
The first time I reached for Tetley Tea Colour Therapy “Soothe” tea was on Saturday morning. I was waking up early on Saturday to head down to Eaton Centre to get in line to get an appointment at the Apple store to get an iPhone. My nerves were a bit rattled and I was nervous that I wouldn’t get an appointment. I figured this would be the perfect time to “soothe”. I can’t say much on whether or not the tea did in fact soothe me but I can say that I really enjoyed it. There was great depth in flavour and the tea managed to feel “alive” despite being in the bag. I would totally try this or other Colour Therapy teas and add them to my treat drawer at work. Heaven knows I could benefit from a stash of “Soothe”, “Calm” or “Clarity” on any given day.

What a fantastic giveaway! It’s hard to pick a favorite, as I link to switch up the teas I drink, but I really like ginger varieties (ginger mint sounds delish!). My mood is kind of blue right now… I need a pick me up! This would be a great one 😉

I love this giveaway – we go through so much tea in our house! My favourite tea is almost anything with ginger in it – you should try ginger lime! And my colour mood would be rather red at the moment!
